We are always looking for ways to fund our group to allow our Cubs, Scouts and Venturers to be able to have the best experience they can to allow them to grow into community leaders.
If you would like to sponsor 1st/2nd Harbord Scouts please contact our Group Leader.
You may wish to help local kids to get to a Jamboree, buy some equipment or help maintain our hall.
Organisations that have helped our group include Bendigo Bank and Harbord Bowling Club.
We have four major fundraising events each year:
Australia Day breakfast at Dee Why Beach on the 26th January each year
Helping to cook and serve breakfast for the local community at Dee Why Beach.
City to Surf fun run in August each year.
In 2010, on the event’s 40th anniversary, a record 80,000 participants ran, making it the largest run of its kind in the world. The run started in 1971 and is 14 kilometres long.
Manning one of the water stations in the Eastern Suburbs helping all the runners and walkers to arrive at their destination safely and hydrated.
Pub to Pub fun run in August each year from Dee Why to Newport
This popular run is 13 kilometres long, organised by the Rotary Club of Brookvale, over those 26 years, the event has raised over $3.5 million dollars for wonderful organisations including Life Education Australia, Northern Beaches Interchange (NBI), Surf Life Saving Northern Beaches, Without A Ribbon, Bear Cottage, Cerebral Palsy Alliance and Sunnyfield.
Real Christmas Trees
Each December Harbord Scouts sources real Christmas trees and sells them for a small profit to the local community in Freshwater (Harbord) village.
All Cubs, Scouts and Venturers are expected to serve the community at all of these events helping the community and also raising a little money for the group. Family and Friends of Scouts are also encouraged to help at these events too.
