There is a lot more happening with cubs over the coming months so we just wanted to give everyone a quick update about some of the key dates to lock in your calendar.
But first, we hope everyone saw the great article about Sue and Ralph in the Manly Daily last Saturday. They have been leading everything at Harbord for over 30 years each so it’s great that we will be able to acknowledge their amazing contribution to the community by naming the scout hall after them on Thursday 14th June. More details to follow soon but please mark it in your calendar (6 – 9pm).
Key dates to put in your calendar
- Thurs 14 June – Hall naming event (6 – 9pm). Note that there will be no cubs on Wed 13 June as cubs will be doing activities during the Thurs event.
- Sun 12 Aug – City to Surf – This is an annual fundraising activity with cubs and scouts managing one of the major water stations for the run.
- Sun 26 Aug – Pub2Pub – This is our other major fundraising activity with cubs and scouts again managing one of the major water stations for the run. This is an ideal opportunity for people to volunteer who couldn’t attend the City to Surf.
- Fri 5 to Sun 7 October – Annual Snow Trip to Perisher and Thredbo (Deposits required by 30 June). Info forms to be provided soon.
Cubs will run on all Wednesday nights from 7 – 8:30 unless otherwise notified.
Further information about each activity will be issued closer to the relevant date.
Thursday 14th June from 6 pm- 9 pm we are holding a night of celebration to honour the tremendous service of Sue and Ralph Ranger (Akela and Hunter) who have served Harbord Cubs and Scouts for over 30 years.
The hall will be renamed in their honour by Mayor Michael Reagan at approx 7 pm but food and soft drinks will be provided from 6 pm and we are looking forward to a winter feast with a spit roast, salads, and bread. We will finish with cake and we are hoping current and past cubs, scouts, and their families will be there to show their appreciation to Ralph and Sue for all they have done for our children. Please come and be a part of this wonderful evening. Registering on Facebook will help with catering https://www.facebook.com/events/136439957207108/
The 1st/2nd Harbord Committee is keen to host some fun family events at the scout hall later in the year; a family movie night and a games night. Suggestions for other family events are welcome. We hope you can join us at some of these events.
Please consider chipping in some cash so we can buy a nice gift for Ralph and Sue
